Auto Insurance - What Are the Basics
Auto insurance company choice can be confusing especially to those not familiar with the rules and regulations of the state they live in. This can make looking for auto insure online a difficult task for many.
There are so my auto insurance company that offer insurance online how does one know what to look for.
Get Comparison Quotes
Though this can take some time its always best to get at least 5 quotes. As daunting as this may seem the quotes are free and could save you a significant amount of money.
The main thing to understand is that the answers you provide will determine the rate of the insurance. Not only will you need the basics, name, address, sex and age but you will need the make and model of each car and the driving record of each driver to be insured. Even your credit score is used in some states.
The last bit of information you need is the actual limits to be insured for. If you have insurance look at your current policy for that information. If you don’t have insurance most companies will quote with the minimum limits available for your state. Make sure each quote has these same limits.
After comparing the quotes compare the companies. Look at their websites and you can find out the financial standings, claims response time and consumer complaints. Whether you are buying personal auto or commercial auto insurance you want to know that the company you choose will be there for you.
Rules, Rights & Responsibilities
Always, always, always before signing any contract read all the available paperwork. It is your responsibility to know what you are covered for and if there is any question always ask a customer service rep to explain the contract. First look to make sure the coverage is what you asked for. If not make sure it is corrected prior to signing.
The nest thing you want to do is know what you are responsible for and what our rights are. Then know what the companies rights and responsibilities are. You don’t want to find out that the company isn’t responsible for some coverage after you file a claim.
It is your car and your insurance and you need to be informed. Make it your business to know your insurance companies business. Make sure your company is right for you.
